About Munich

Some information in advance

Below you will find some gerneral informations about your Munich trip.

Oktoberfest

When you are planning a trip to the Oktoberfest, book early! Most places are already fully booked one year in advance.

Public Transportation

Public transport in Munich is called MVV. With a ticket, you can travel on all subway/underground trains, trams and busses.

For those staying longer than 3 days, we suggest buying a weekly ticket (Isarkarte). With the weekly ticket you can travel comfortably to all important must sees.  If you’re staying for 1-2 days you may choose between a day ticket and a strip ticket.

Summer

The best time to visit Munich is probably the summer. With all parks and beer gardens you will easily understand why Munich is also known as ‘the most northern city of Italy’.

Tollwood festival

Twice a year (summer & winter) the Tollwood festival takes place in Munich. This ‘Tent City’ offers theatres, concerts, bars and food corners.

Munich´s Christmas Markets

At the end of November until the end of December, the famous Munich Christmas Markets open. Down town the smell of hot spiced wine and pine-trees fill the air of  200 square metres.

Ski resorts

The Alps’ ski slopes are only a bus drive away. All the busses start in front of the main railway station and take you to the nearest ski resorts and back (you need a special ticket for that).

Munich trade fairs

In addition, Munich is one of the leading cities in worldwide trade fairs. Over 40 of these for new technology, economics and consumer goods take place in our exhibition centre. More than 30.000 traders from over 100 countries and more than 2 million visitors from about 180 countries take part every year in our trade shows.
